Our commercial experience includes offices, retail and leisure buildings. We understand the needs of clients to maximise the potential of the site, mitigate the demands of the planning officers and keep a close control on the costs. But good design is more than this and we can know how to offset the commercial needs with urban design, image and quality of details and finishes.

We have worked with community groups over a number of years and know this is a specialist task. This involves a range of skills from public consultation to brief writing; cost planning and understanding the funders’ requirements in order to realise our clients’ ambitions as a completed building.

Many of our projects involve works to existing buildings, and our knowledge of traditional construction techniques is fundamental to developing appropriate designs and specifications. Our projects include repairs, alterations,extensions and changes of use to Grade II, Grade II* and Grade I listed buildings, and cover a wide range residential, commercial, industrial and religious buildings.

Schools and further education buildings have provided the core of our work since the practice was established with the winning design for Dearne Valley College (with Barnsley MBC Architects). We have experience from over 60 school and further education college projects, which include small extensions and maintenance, successfully overcoming the time and cost pressures to meet our clients’ requirements. .

Health centres and doctor’s surgeries have formed part of our varied workload for a number of years. Creating a welcoming environment that provides patient confidentiality; and balancing these requirements with the clinical needs of the health professionals is essential to the success of these projects.

The residential sector forms a significant part of our portfolio. We have experience of social housing, the private rented sector, speculative private housing, one off bespoke dwellings and house extensions. We provide a wide range of services from preparing designs and 3D images to full project management from inception to completion.
